AME Employee to Join Antarctic Whale Voyage

The voyage, scheduled for January – March of next year, will be attempting to locate Antarctic blue whales in the Southern Ocean using acoustic and visual methods, in an effort to gather data to help formulate an abundance estimate for the species. As part of voyage preparation, David recently spent a week on the Tasman Peninsula with the small boat team, practicing satellite tag deployment and biopsy techniques on migrating humpback whales.
