Stereo Video Systems

Australian Marine Ecology uses stereo video systems for a variety of purposes, predominantly for fish density, fish 3D distribution mapping and fish size measurements. We are also developing capability for 3D benthic mapping, microtopography mapping and modelling and sessile invertebrate size and volume measurement. We have stereo cameras associated with our baited video BRUVS and diver-video DOVS system. Our ROV carries the DOVS system for comparable deep-water surveys.

We have a compact very high resolution stereo system, using Prosilica GC2450, 5 megapixel GigE cameras recording at 3-5 frames per second. This system is deployed on either the ROV or AUV for fish surveys, benthic 3D mapping and sessile invertebrate size, volume and abundance measurements.
